Notes

1
This cast of characters for Eaton’s proposed novel BOOM CITY includes many real-life Calgary people.

The Lougheeds were leading Calgary citizens, Sir James and Lady Isabella Lougheed. In Dec 1922, Eaton inscribed a copy of CATTLE to Lady Isabella Lougheed. In 1923/24, Eaton, in her capacity as Canadian Authors Association Calgary branch president corresponded and had conversations with Sir James regarding federal copyright legislation that did not favour writers.
3
Mrs. Hill was the name of the real-life lover of Eaton’s husband Frank Reeve.
4
Likely Elizabeth Bailey Price and her husband Joe.
